Candlelight Walk 2020
How many times have you said or heard, “So much has changed because of the Covid-19 Pandemic!”
Sadly, because of the pandemic, we will not be walking together in Cobourg for the Annual Northumberland Candlelight Walk to remember those who have lost their battle with breast cancer or to celebrate all those who are SURVIVING.
Last year, the Northumberland Candlelight Walk took place in Port Hope on the last Friday in September organized by the Survivor Thrivers Breast Cancer Dragon Boat Team from Cobourg.
The walk is a great way to kick off October’s Breast Cancer Awareness events. With community sponsorships and participant support, over $16,000 was raised for the Canadian Cancer Society to support breast cancer research and provide programs to support breast cancer survivors.
What unfortunately hasn’t changed in the midst of this pandemic, is that women and men are still hearing the words, “You have breast cancer!”
We are asking you to consider donating to help change the statistics below!
• Breast Cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among Canadian women
• An estimated 1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime and 1 in 31 will die from the disease
The Canadian Cancer Society estimates an $80 million dollar shortfall this year due to the pandemic and the loss of fundraising revenue from in person events. We are asking for your financial support. Please donate what you can and help the Survivor Thrivers Breast Cancer Dragon Boat Team reach an online fundraising goal of $8000.

We hope and pray that we can be together next year in Cobourg to walk together.
We know that we are STRONGER TOGETHER!
In the mean time … Stay well! Be safe! Be thankful! See you next year.
